Why is this site constantly screwed up?

I really like this site, but the site designers and/or maintainers seem unable to get all the glitches out of the software. It has become impossible to go more than one day, or sometimes one hour or one minute, without a problem. And since all other functions on my computer and on other web sites work OK, I have to conclude that this site is simply screwed up by bad design or poor maintenance. People like me who enjoy other persons' travel experiences, and who like to share their own knowledge, are going to get fed up with this kind of sloppy site performance.

Given the huge amount of people who are constantly checking this site, I think it is normal to experience some technical difficulties from time to time, nothing is perfect. Instead of blaming them, I would rather congratulate them for the good job and for the possibility we all get to share our experiences and to get help from other travelers out there! keep up the good work, Fodors!

I gotta side with Wayne on this issue, rather than happy-go-lucky justme.

Plenty of other sites that get even more traffic than this one manage to work smoothly nearly the all the time, instead of having problems most of the time. This site's design has some fundamental flaw somewhere that keeps it from handling the traffic that they know they have. That's just bad hosting.

Sorry, justme, when so many users are so frustrated so often, the host is NOT "doing a good job."

It ain't perfect, but it's a great service and it's free, and I worry that if there are too many complaints Fodors will just throw in the towel and we won't have anything.

I think Fodors is doing its best.

The site is great, considering it's seemingly revenue-free model of operation, but it does have its problems occasionally.

But Wayne, what specifically is bugging you THIS morning? Citing examples would sure be helpful, as I can't see anything wrong today... and writing to [email protected] will almost always be more useful than posting here (or do both).

Best wishes,

Rex
