Why go to Elba?
 
How long would it take to get from Siena to Elba? is it workth the trip?

Elba is a huge package tourist venue in the summertime. The most popular option is to take the ferry from Piombino; it takes about an hour. Here is one of the lines that make the crossing:

Thanks, didn't realize it was so touristy. We are trying to avoid that but I would like to see some coastal area, we will be staying in Siena.

There are some nice beach areas on the Tuscan coast that will be easier to access with a car....Porto Ercole, Porto Santo Stefano...
