I agree with nytraveller. I live in NYC and enter the trains whereever I choose. For my conveninece, I may choose a particular door (i.e. I'm always near the back door of the fourth car from the back because the stairs to exit on my stop is there). There is no such thing as entering from the front and exiting from the back. Train stations in NYC are not all the same, so the stairs may be anywhere at a particular station. What works well in one, may be the worse for another. You get on wherever you choose to and get off wherever you want. A particular person may have their own routine, but don't tell anyone that your preference is what they should do.
