What's with the thread numbers on the first screen only. My eyes go to the number first (I guess since they are new). I was just getting used to the new format and now we have another change and I don't believe it's for the better.

Does anyone else think these numbers visually impair the thread titles?

I think the new numbers are to try to make up for the loss of good old "frames." It does help in keeping track of where you were without the constant scrolling up and down.

They don't bother me at all, but I fail to see the purpose, as the threads are continually changing order.

People kept asking for the numbers back (I have no idea why) so Fodor's accomodated the request. There's an explanation from Katie (editor) over in the Lounge forum.

Why do we now have numbers 1 to 25?

Because this is as high as Fodor's can count

(and we asked for numbering all posts, not just the first 25, and not just in the forums' windows)

I find it helpful (even though threads change) if I'm reading. I find it easier (not perfect) to back to approximately where I was in the list of 25. Thanks for the numbers, fodors.

I want numbers, but I want random numbers, that can make this board lots of fun.

Also, in the US we don't do so well in math, so this is Fodor's way of helping us remember the numerical order.

The random numbers are just as useful as these.

If you click the back browser button after reading a thread you will see the next thread on the left side. You don't go back to the top. That was one of the changes to this board.

It doesn't make sense to put numbers for only the first 25 posts.
