Why are flights out of EVERYWHERE in Italy so expensive on Jan 5?

Looking to fly out of either Naples or Venice on January 5, but EVERY flight is over $1700 per person? Any idea why that is? Am I booking too far in advance?

It is the end of Christmas and New Year's holiday and everyone is returning home for school or work. The weekend after New Year's has always been very expensive.

Flying to... Boston? Bahrain? Barcelona?

I don't know if it's relevant, but to the Italians, January 6 is more important than Christmas. It's the Epiphany. Perhaps people start vacation or go visiting on the 5th so that they can celebrate January 6. It's just a wild guess, but who knows?

Rastaguy, what do you find so wrong with newbies?
How do you know that they do not research before posting?

When you posted for the first time, did you receive a similar "welcome" from older posters?

I see that you "respond" to a lot of persons these days, without saying nothing, you do not give any help or info, just tell us that they are new and will go away soon.

If I would receive answers like these when I joined to Fodor's forum, for sure also I would go away.

Rastaguy : How many posts must a newbie write before he/she is allowed to ask a question?
