My husband says, I gotta business trip to France; wanna go along? Of course I say yes! But then you know what!!!! So he sets the dates and I do all the rest of the planning. lol I like it that way except when he tries to "help" by making a decision.
I usually give him two or three hotels and ask for his input. He usually says, I dunno; you pick. If you take no responsibility for planning, you can gripe when things go wrong. Not that he would, you understand. lol

I do! But my boyfriend who has interailed through europe in his college days still has yet to take me someplace he has visited!
He is a great travelling companion and will go anywhere. So I like to book a hotel that I will like and I let him know all the places we can visit and see and we choose together (ususally my choice!) It's great to have a fella who will go shopping with me and see the sights as well. He finds something that always is unusual and interesting along the way that I never notice.
He found a great pizza place in Madrid when I was starved after eating tortilla for 5 days (I am a vegetarian!).

Two years ago, I asked my husband for a list of the places in the world and the U.S. that he would like to visit and the major sights at those places. Based upon that list, I have collected information for our future trips and I do the "detail" planning. When our kids go along, I always get input from them - at present, my daughter is lobbying for a trip to England to visit the Harry Potter filming sites and to see some plays and musicals. I build in some flexibility in our itineraries and then give my husband choices as we are traveling, so that he can chose depending on how tired we all are or what activities have been the most successful. For example, on a recent trip to Hawaii, we found out how much we all enjoyed snorkeling, so we scrapped a few other plans to spend more time at the beach.

My Hubby gets the ideals & then I do all the research & planning. I have a love of researching - so hunting up hotels, tours,.... is something that is fun! My hubby gets alittle tired sometimes when I find something interesting & want to share it with him (I also have a "gift" of comming in at the last 5 min's of any given show - I do not even look at the clock when I get going on research!) Then when it comes down to final choices, I sit him down with only the top 5 - 6 best places. (He get overwhelmed with more than that) We make the final choices - Then it's up to me to make the bookings, etc. I also am in charge of the $$'s - so it's logical that I also set up and manage the trip budget. (That's what I do for a living anyway!!)
I love reading and learning about each area we are going to - I just give hubby an abreviated version. I have found some very interesting places & sites in the past - they make the trip memorable for the both of us. I do not make a set intinerary for each day, I just make a list of place we could see or things to do & then check off as we go those that we get to.
