Schnookies;

I went to Rome in May for 15 days by myself. I went to Paris three years running by myself. I’ve been to Venice and Florence and Spain by myself.

You have a remarkable amount of freedom when you travel solo because it’s so easy to reach a consensus each day about what you want to do. With adequate preparation, you’ll be able to handle all the arrangements and all the contingencies that come up during the trip.

I happen to be shy and too often overly self-conscious, to say nothing about suffering from occasional bouts of absentmindedness. So if can do it, and love it, I’m sure you can and will as well.

Thanks for your uplifting words! That's what I need to hear right now after getting a weird reaction from people when I tell them "I"m going by myself". It starts playing with your mind and I start wondering if it's such a good idea after all. I'm married and my hubby is going on a trip himself with two guy friends. It's probably the first time we travel apart like this. But is it really that rare for married people to do this?
It's not something we're planning on doing for the future. It just happened this way. I'm usually shy and let my hubby take care of everything when I'm with him. So this will hopefully be a good learning experience:-)

My husband and I travel separately all the time, or I should say I do. He's traveled more than me, and has less interest in going to see some places again, so sometimes I just go alone (like New York City, Miami Beach just to name a couple).

There's nothing wrong with traveling separately, in fact I would argue it's a sign of a very healthy marriage that you can both do it and enjoy it!

Happy travels,

Jules
