I'm just forming a plan to be in Italy the last two weeks of October. I'd be visiting a friend and staying with her, then traveling to another of her family's homes. So tentative:

Cesena (her home)
Rimini (day trip from Cesena)
Urbino (a place we want to visit)
Molfetta (other family home)
other places in Puglia (since Molfetta is there)

I'm still dreaming of the possibilities. . .

bobthenavigator - Thanks. We choose Castlerotto based on your recommendation from earlier this summer.

We are driving from Castlerotto to Piran to meet up with my in-laws. I saw your posts (and Rick Steves) from last week on the Dolomites and have planned our route accordingly. I'll post a trip report when I return!

bobthenavigator Aug 26th, 2004 05:33 AM

I hope you have checked out driving into Slovenia with the rental car.

seaside1 Aug 26th, 2004 06:01 AM

Nolagirl
Lost track of this post somehow. We hail from Birmingham and Nashville. So, if you hear another southern accent that may be us!

candert Aug 26th, 2004 06:02 AM

I saw the warnings about crossing that border. I booked the car through autoeurope and stated that it would be going to Slovenia on the reservation. They confirmed it.

Is there anything in particular with the border crossing that I need to be aware of? I would think with their entry into EU it wouldn't be that difficult, if not just an open border.

Cesena/Rimini (Oct 24-26)
Molfetta/Puglia (Oct 17-Nov 1)
