Who to turn to for help in Budapest

Hi
My father-in-law has suffered a serious medical emergency while on vacation in Budapest and is hospitalized. He is receiving excellent care, but my elderly mother-in-law is struggling with the language barrier, hotels, hospitals and shopping as well as understanding the medical care system while she tries to help him there.
I am wondering if anyone on this forum knows of a reputable guide service or local group that could provide someone that might help her navigate these hurdles, including translation, until one of us can join her there.
Thank you so much.

Here is information for the American Embassy in Budapest. If your in-laws are not American, perhaps an internet search will net information on their particular embassy.
  • ADDRESS

    Hungary

As suggested already, your embassy/consulate, and/or your insurer.

I thought I had read an article about US volunteers helping fellow citizens in difficulties abroad and a little digging turned it up. The key takeaway:

" So how do you, the American traveler, solicit help from a warden?
You don’t. The chain of command starts with the embassy. The tourist or concerned family members in the States will contact the office for help."
