Another Fodor's poster and I are planning to meet for a drink or two during our respective European vacations in a few weeks. Is anyone else interested in trying to meet up at some point along the way? If so, e-mail me at [email protected].

So near yet so far. We will be spending those two days in the Cinque Terre.

Thanks! I'm really pleased w/ how the itinerary turned out. We're actually going to London for 5 days prior to arriving in Paris, also. (didn't list it because I won't be able to meet up w/ any Fodorites in London.) My mom and I are traveling together and I am really looking forward to sharing this trip w/ her.

maitaitom:
Well darn it! Too bad I'll miss you! I would love to meet you in person. I love your "punny" posts! Besides, Mai Tais are right up there on my list of favorite drinks, too!

I'll be going through mai tai withdrawl on the trip, but some good German, French and Italian wine as I travel to those countries should get me through. Have fun in Firenze, one of my favorite places on earth.

We'll be in Paris 9/21-26, Dordogne 9/27-10/4 and Languedoc 10/4-10/11. Would be great to meet up with some people if possible--and if we have to substitute kirs royales for mai tais, I hope that's the worst problem I ever have to face!

QueenMab:

Right now we're thinking about doing the Paris gtg (Nothing fancy or elaborate, just maybe a before-dinner drink or something . . .?) in the evening of the 26th. E-mail me if that works for you.

ffsmiles: Thanks for the advice! While I have to admit my natural inclination is to be a planner, I'm trying my hardest to not OVER-plan. I'd love to just take it as it comes each day!

Hi: My husband and I will be in Rome arriving from London on 10/3 we will be leaving for Greece 10/9. We will be staying at the Hilton. I have never been to Rome, and I thought we would try to use the Fodor's guide to day trips, and go to pompeii on Sunday the 5th (probably) so if you know of a place in Rome to meet, I think that would be fun. Dollie, here's a secret little place that opens for lunch at 1 p.m. You must have some wine - try the Sicilian Nozze D'ore (a beautiful white). Ditrambo, Ub. Es. Piazza Cancelleria, 74, near Campo dei'Firori - telephoen 06 6871626. Another for seafood, near the Pantheon: Quinzi e Gabrieli, at Via delle Copelle, 5 Tel. 06 6879389.

And just off Pza. Navona: Scaletta degli Artisti - via di Santa Maria dell'Anima, 56. Tel. 68 801872.

All moderately priced, all wonderful and simple.

Hi Everyone:

Under the heading of "You Know You're a Fodors Addict When":

I'm currently out of town for a long week-end visiting friends and, just now, I sort of casually asked my friend if I could use her computer to "check my e-mail" (a total lie . . . I wanted to check this thread!), and my boyfriend butts in with, "She doesn't want to check her e-mail! She wants to check the Fodor's message board!" Yikes . . . busted.

Anyway,

LVSue: We are going from Paris to Venice by way of overnight train. My travel partner (aka "Mom") has always wanted to do that and never has so we're going to try it.

dollie: If you'll e-mail me at [email protected], I'll give you what we're working on so far in terms of when and where we're going to try to meet up in Rome. ffsmiles actually has a couple of good suggestions that I'll put on my list of possibilities.

cigalechanta: Have fun in Provence. A good friend of mine is going to be traveling around that area about the same time you will be.

ira: That is too bad that we'll just miss you! You're another person on the board I'd love to meet in person. Oh well, another time and place maybe . . .

I'll be out of pocket for the rest of the week-end (now that my "sickness" has been suspected, I have to try to save some face. Ha-Ha!), but I'll get back w/ anyone else who's interested in this on Monday.

As I emailed to you, Jennie, we may be leaving Paris on 9/26, so for us, earlier in the week would be better. We're going camping for a few days, so I'll check in again when I get back. Have a great weekend, everyone!
