Which Secret Itineraries tour?
We will be in Venice for four days at the beginning of May. I have the apartment now I am deciding what we will do. I see that there are several different Secret Itineraries tours, is one better than the rest?

I have only heard of the Secret Itineraries tour of the Doge's Palace.
I have planned at least a dozen trips to Venice and probably read nearly every guide book and website on the topic for myself and clients.
I'm pretty sure there's only one.

According to the Doges Palace web site there is only one Secret Itineraries tour.
http://palazzoducale.visitmuve.it/en...isita/tickets/
If you see something different on their web site why not give a link.

Ok, then it must just be that I can get my tickets from several different sellers. When I googled it yesterday there were several different links from ticket places (Tickitalt, hiddenvenicetours.com, viva ticket.it) were just a few of them. Thanks all.

NYCFoodSnob is correct. There are some agencies offering a private or semi-private tour in the afternoon led by their own accredited guides. These are more expensive but cover the same rooms, just a smaller group.
If you are doing any other tours then you can check if any sellers are doing a package discount. We combined ours with a tour of the Grand Canal by speedboat.
Depending on the weather during your visit the Secret Itineraries Tour can be rather hot and stuffy.
Enjoy your visit.

I hear there are several ways to get tickets. I don't know how the others work, or what they charge, or how they are linked to the total permitted by the Palazzo. Whenever anyone asks, I send people to the Palazzo's official site to purchase tickets: http://www.visitmuve.it/. The more precise link is the one adrienne provided. There is a learning curve to ordering tickets at the official site. What can one say about Italian IT design? Perhaps it's easier to get tickets elsewhere?

We did our tour through Dark Tours Rome. It was a full day combo tour. The actual Secret Itineraries part was done by a guide in the Doges Palace. But the rest of the day was done by the Dark Tours guides. We started the day in the Doge's Palace. Did the Secret part, then some other parts of the palace. Yes, it was hot, but it was very interesting. I will have to say though that by the time we got to the rest of the palace, we were all fading fast. It was long and by that part I really wasn't much interested. We then took a break for lunch and met up later and had a nice water taxi tour of the canals. I loved this part of the tour! We seemed to go everywhere! The group was small, only our family of 6 and one other couple. Then we had a nice walking tour, which included St Marks.
All and all I thought it was a really nice tour - a bit rushed on the walking part, and yet - hot in the Secret part! But I loved the stories in that area!
You can read about it in more detail in my blog or trip report if you're interested. Here is the link to our Venice day:
