Which Schengan country is easier to get a visa
 

Hi everybody. Can't believe I'm still not done planning yet, but anyway, I was wondering if it's easier to get a schenga visa for a certain country? I know I'll have to abide by all the rules and paperwork, but can anybody tell me about a schengan country that's "easier" to access?

They are all supposed to follow the same guidelines adopted by Schengen agreement so there shouldn't be any easier or more difficult countries. Generally, the smaller countries that receive fewer applications tend not be as demanding as more popular countries like France, but I don't know offhand any that are particularly easy to get a visa from. One thing to bear in mind is where countries have an appointment system for visa applications - and all popular countries do, it may be more difficult to get a date you want. In peak season, as we are in now, you may have to wait a month or more for an appointment slot.

I'm of course assuming you are a visa national required to obtain an actual Schengen visa in advance, not like US citizens who can visit visa-free for 90-in-180 days.

you don't really get a choice to play the system disneygirl it depends on which country you visit first, or failing that where you intend to stay the longest.

If you want, you can choose flights and itinerary etc to arrive in a country that is supposed to be easier than others.

It may depend in part on what type of visa you are trying to a get.

Some, like Spain and Portugal - I beleive - are more open to long-term visas for people that can invest a large amount of money or buy a business in a country. But that assumes you have a LOT of money.

What kind of visa are you looking for - and what is your natoinality?

If this is a long stay visa required, you need to say so.

Disneygirl is South African, and wants a long term visa. Sh has several threads on the subject, but keeps hoping a new thread will give her the answer she wants. It won't.

How about just figuring out what to do to meet the requirements and then do it?

Yep, no matter how often she posts, the facts remain the same. Her time would be better spent working with the consulate to see if there is a way for her to stay wherever she wants to stay for as long as she wants to stay there. And, if not, planning a trip that follows the immigration rules.

As I said in an earlier thread, an au-pair job seems to me the only feasible option. Since the OP will not be studying at a local university, a student visa is out.
