Which place in Turkey is this?

I recently came across GoTurkiye's travel channel on Youtube, and saw this site in one of their videos, link :
Looks like a very interesting site, and I can't really identify the site, would be great if someone can point to the location.

Doesn’t look quite right, but maybe somewhere in Cappadocia, around Goreme or perhaps Cavusin?

The location in the photo, Hasankeyf, makes sense, and is within Southeastern Anatolia, which is the focus of the video. Good work!

Thanks! Is the town submerged as of now? I believe it was going to go underwater, right?

I found this on google:

As a result of the resettlement program for the population, many residents of Hasankeyf moved to a Yeni Hasankeyf (New Hasankeyf) on a hill which was to be at the shore of the dam reservoir after the construction of the dam is terminated. By July 2020, the ancient town was completely submerged in the waters of the dam.

There was a great deal of opposition to the plan to flood the area, but to no avail.

It really shows the ruggedness of that countryside - the Ilısu Dam is about 80km downstream of Hasankeyf.

The site in the picture though looks high up on a hill, hard to believe it's submerged as well. I wish I would have been to Hasankeypf when I traveled to Turkey in 2013.

The image appears to be the Hasankeyf Castle area, unaffected by the rising waters.
There are some Google photos that show before and after:

Thanks for the links Croesus! Looks like it might still be a good idea to visit ( whenever that happens).
