Which part of Versailles is included in the museum pass?

Hi! I am getting a museum pass on my trip to Paris and I've read that entrance in Versailles is included

But is says it includes entry to "musee national des chateaux de Versailles et de trianon"

Does anyone know if it includes entry to State Apartments, Museum of the History of France, Coach Museum as well as Grand Trianon and Petit Trianon?

Thanks!

Hello - what i remember is that the pass included the palace and petit trianon but NOT the gardens...which you had to pass thru to get to the trianon. a little trick to get you to buy the upgraded pass!

It is true that one has to pay for the gardens in order to see Le Petit Trianon, but in fairness it wasn't done as a means of forcing people to buy any upgraded pass.

They used to charge for the gardens only on the days the fountains were running. Since a bad storm hit the area a few years back and downed many trees (some dating back to the 1700s) they decided to charge routinely, as a means of raising money to cover the repairs and replantings.

alc1974, if you pay extra to see the private apartments (worth it) by buying a tour deal on the spot, see these and the state apartments and the gardens, plus have lunch, you will have had a very full day and will probably be ready to go back to 'town' without seeing the other things you mention, although of course you might have a special interest in same (?)

we went to Versailles this July. We had a museum pass, and were able to see the Trianon and the without upgrading the pass at all! We did pay to go on the little train there though, but it looked as if we could have walked there without paying extra.

i went two years ago.everything is included with pass (saves you 14eur) except gardens (3eur each).you need gardens ticket to reach trinanons. i opted to get the tour too.the museum pass gives you a discount on this as well (4eur instead of 6).entrance for pass holders is NOT to the right.look for entrance C or D.

Actually, Pass entrance for the State Apartments is B2 and, and for the King's Chamber you use C, which are on opposite sides of the Courtyard.

(reading from my latest museum pass from March this year.)

yes janisj that sounds right. i remember on arrival heading for entrance D as i wanted to book and pay for my guided tour.to enter the apartments with your pass you must use B2.

alc1974 entrance A is outside the 1 & 3 on the brochure below. entrance B2 is in the building to the immediate left of this area. entrance D is closer to the marble courtyard on the map.

http://www.chateauversailles.fr/pdf/...pl%20GB%20.pdf

it sounds complicated and is complicated and not explained on their website nor on site. there is no sign "carte musee use this entrance". i wonder how many poor ticket/card holders ended up queuing at entrance A.

You might want to compare the total cost of your transportation and pass day plus supplements to the €21,15 price of a Forfait loisirs sold by the SNCF. Here's the detail:

And just a suggestion.....make sure you go to the ladies/mens room before you go. The day we were there all of the rest rooms were closed. The McDonald's in town was doing a great business that day. Not even the tourist information had a ladies room. There were a lot of unhappy people in Versailles that day.

Hi,

I just looked up Versailles site, it said the garden is free admission except for the days fountains are on display?!

In Sept those are Sat and Sun only.

I dont see they charge for the garden on days other than the Fountain Display weekends?

This is what is on their site:

Gardens
- 1 November to 31 March: free entrance
- 1 April to 30 October: free entrance except on Grandes Eaux Musicales days.

Jardin
- 1er novembre au 31 mars : accès gratuit
- 1er avril au 30 octobre : accès gratuit, hors jours de Grandes Eaux Musicales

Both in Englais and Francais - so it should be accurate.
