which Parador to stay?
 

I'm planning on my trip to Spain in October. As I've seen some recommendations for Parador, I'd like to stay in one of the Pardaor, preferably historical rather than modern like, for one or two nights.

I'll be visiting Barcelona--Seville--Madrid. Which parador would be the most convenient? Are there any parador that are located nearby one of these three cities and easily to get there? We won't be renting a car so we'll rely on public transportation.

There are no paradores in the cities of Barcelona, Sevilla and Madrid. There are some towns near those cities that do have paradores but I don't think it would be practical to stay so far from the city you want to visit. For example, there is a very nice, historic parador in the town of Chinchon, near Madrid. The area is beautiful and interesting, the parador is very nice and the town is charming, but I would never use it as a base for visiting Madrid. Too complicated and far.

Thanks Luhimari. I did visit this website however I was unable to locate the public transportation info except for the driving direction.

I'm not planning on using it as a base to visit those cities. Rather, I'd stay there for one or two nights as an excursion and visit its vicinity as well. I like Chinchon as you suggested. How do I get there by public transportation?

Any other Parador that are easily accessed by public transportation from one of these 3 cities I'll be visiting? Thanks.

We enjoyed the parador in Avila wich is near Madrid. We've stayed in many paradors all over the country on various trips to Spain and highly recommend them. Portugal's pousdas are also favorites of ours.

There is a Parador in Segovia, as well. It's about 35 minutes by fast train from Madrid. The Parador is not right in the city of Segovia - you would need to arrange a taxi back and forth, about a ten minute drive. I stayed there last summer - it was very nice, but not a historical building. The swimming pool, built on a grassy terrace with an incredible view of Segovia, was a welcome respite on hot afternoons, and the rooms were quite comfortable. Great dining there, too.

I'm actually looking for something between Madrid and Seville if possible. Since I'll be leaving from Seville to go to Madrid. Please suggest if there's any nice historical like parador in between and easily accessible by public transportation or taxis. Thanks.

The one in Avila is located just 3km away from the train station, or so it says on the website.
That Parador website is easy to find you way around!

Very near Seville is the Parador de Carmona, highly praised and which I recomend. There are enough visits in Carmona (churches, monuments) for a couple of days. Nearby cities like Marchena or Ecija bear the same kind of architecture/landscape: Baroque. No sense going out of town.
But on the way Seville to Madrid you find other Paradores, in different styles and environment: Almagro, Toledo and Chinchon (Cordoba's is a modern building)

thanks everyone! I decided to stay at Carmona for one night at the end of October.

I did a search but did not see any discount for the month of September or October. There are however many different types of discounts in July, August, and November, December. Is there any reason why there are no discounts in October? Is it still too early to make the reservation? When would be a better time to make a reservation? Thanks.
