Which of these two hotels in Nice?

La Perouse or Hotel Palais de la Méditerranée? The prices were the same and both od the web sites looked great. Any good or bad experiences to share?

I haven't been yet but I'm going in 2 weeks and have booked The Palais Mediteranee for 3 nights on the recommendation of friends. Don't know if that helps but I'll report back on return.

The location of the La Pérouse is definitely the best, just a short walk from Vieux Nice; the Méditeranée is quite a bit farther down the Promenade des Anglais. The La Pérouse is a lovely old-style hotel; the Méditeranée tends toward the modern. So take your pick. We love the La Pérouse, but be sure to get a room with a sea view.

I have only stayed at La Perouse. We had a room without a sea view (I'm cheap!)and thought the room was a little dark - had a wonderful bathroom tho! The location near old Nice was very convenient - enjoyed the restaurants and people watching there. Would love to stay there again in a sea view room!

Loved La Perouse. Can't beat the location.

They upgraded us for no charge to a room with a balcony and sea view. The pool at the bottom of the rock cliff was awesome. And the people that checked out ahead of us paid about 5 times as much as we did!

We were upgraded to a corner view room with balcony the first time we stayed at La Perouse. The second visit we paid a lot more for a similar room because we didn't want to be there without that view. That's how gorgeous it is. Breakfast on the patio is lovely and delicious in warm weather.

La Perouse it is. Thanks!

Good. Now, don't have breakfast there--instead, head over to the nearby Cours Saléya; walk all the way down it to the left and you'll find (I hope) Le Pain Quotidien, a bakery-cum-coffee shop with wonderful food at reasonable prices.

We skipped breakfast, walked right over to the wonderful outdoor market that is right there, loaded up on bread and cheese and meat and olives and had a great picnic on the beach.

Take a filled water bottle with you and you are all set!
