Which neighborhood to stay in?
 

I am travelling with 2 other girls to London. We would like to stay somewhere that has a bit of a nightlife, safe, close to the tube station, and fun? We are staying in a budget hotel regards of which neighborhood we stay in. I have found hotels near Victoria station, lots by King's Cross, a few by Hyde park- I think on the further side. Would someone be able to give some advice? Thanks.

There are many similar inquiries in previous postings. Check under UK and neighbourhood.

I'm afraid neither location fits the bill. No nightlife near King's Cross, which can get rather sleazy late at night.
Maybe you want to try South Ken or Mayfair/Marble Arch or Covent Garden instead?

Again, hard to recommend not knowing your general budget.

What is your budget. We need an actual £ target since "budget hotel" means many things to many people.

Most every hotel will be near a tube station or bus stop. And don't worry about being close to night life since the buses and tube are safe.

I would not stay in Kings Cross - the night life there probably isn't the sort you were thinking of. Actually, that is a bit old - the area has cleaned up a lot, but still not an area I would like.

Victoria is a great area IMO. Kings X is sleazy and out of the way from most things - come back in a few years when the Chunnel trains start arriving here and all will be changed - the whole area is moving upscale but currently is sleazy and the B&Bs amongst the worst i've stayed in the UK.

Victoria Station is OK. I would avoid King's Cross.

Soho is a much better choice for your group. It has nightlife, is safe, has good tube access, and is more fun than any of the neighborhoods you've mentioned.

Again, I don't know your budget, but here are some you might look at. If you budget is higher than these the are plenty of other hotel options in Soho as well.
