which michelin maps needed
 

Hi. We will be flying into TLS and then driving to our villa near Sarlat. Staying there for a week and then driving to the Luberon (Goult) for a week.

I know I need the yellow michelin 329. What maps will I need to get us to Goult and for our time in Provvence. We don't plan to visit Aix or Cote d Azur. Luberon and Vaison la Romaine main focus.

Do I need some Michelin green guides also or are these maps sufficient?

We use 332 around The Luberon

332 will work if you don't plan to visit Uzes, Nimes, or the Camargue.

You really don't need a map to get from Sarlat to Goult unless you want to stop & visit Pech Merle, Figeac, Cele River, or St Cirq Lapopie. It's all Autoroute once you get on the A20. If you want to visit Carcassonne - that's immediately off the Autoroute - just follow the other cars (2nd exit to La Cite).

Thanks for quick responses. Stu, i believe you said the ride is 6 hrs. so I doubt we will stop except for lunch. Any recs?

Are michelin green guides for each area recommended also?

Of course the Green Guides are recommended.

We had a nice lunch with some Fodors friends at Comte Roger this past June. www.comteroger.com . Reserve ahead. There are also many other outside cafes to grab a bite - we've done that.

3 1/2 hrs. Carcassonne is directly off the autoroute/freeway. As you approach & see it on the autoroute - your "kids" are going to insist that you visit. Follow the direction signs to "la Cite" & park as soon as you encounter a large parking lot. Walk into the fortress. There will be no trouble finding a quick/simple place to eat - which in France will consume about 1 1/4 hrs.

if you are willing to get maps and guides that are a few years old, we got ours for an upcoming trip on abebooks . all the sellers seem to be pretty accurate in their descriptions about book condition. they can add up, so this has helped us. (it's a clearinghouse for used book stores throughout much of the world.)

there are 2 Goults listed on the via michelin map. any idea which is mine (my Goult is in the Luberon).

It's the one in the Vaucluse.

plambers, your questions reveal that you need a guidebook. Urgently. The Michelin Green Guides are the best. Buy one for each region.

And maps. Familiarize yourself with geography.

Otherwise, I fear, you will get terribly lost. France has many places with the same name and many highways with the same number.

If you find that you are missing an adjacent yellow map, you can easily get the next one at any hypermarket, Monoprix or whatever...
