Which Michelin Map for Germany and Salzburg area?
 

This is a follow up post to one below :)
We'll be driving from Colonge to Rothenburg to Fussen to Salzburg to Munich.
It seems silly to buy two maps. There is a Germany/Austria/Benelux map- would that be our best bet?
I don't want to buy just the Germany one bc we'll be in the Salzburg area for 4 days and I'm not sure if it is included? Or is it?

Now I'm totally confused- the Germany/Benelux map is a "red" map. Does that mean it only has main roads? I'm not really worried about the autobaun- I'm more concerned about the smaller roads, yet I don't want to buy 3 different maps...

You can buy that map when you get to Germany almost anywhere.
I'm curious why you want a map in English? Wouldn't it make more sense to have the map in German, the same as most of the signs?

Oh- of course! I didn't think of that... my problem what that I can't read German, therefore I can't order off of Amazon.de :)
If I can buy the map once I'm there, maybe I'll wait... I just want to be very prepared. I'm taking my mom on this trip and she has high expectations!

Try babelfish.altavista.com for an online translation. The amazon site is the same as the US site (layout) just that it is in German. Give it a try. Maybe open two Internet Explorers at the same time. It really isn't that difficult! :-). And Amazon generally is a site that you can trust, isn't it?

You want no more than a scale of 500K to 1--like the Michelin 500 series.
I doubt if you can do that on one map for your itinerary.

If your a AAA member they have a map of Germany and it includes Salzburg. You didn't say when you are going but if you have time make use of the German Tourist Bureau.
www.germany-tourism.de or www.cometogermany.com One of these folks sent me a map for free. Also keep in mind that most towns you are planning to visit are easily found by www.the- town- you- want.de. For example www.rothenburg.de
We got the Once you get to Germany, the roads are fairly easy to navigate. We almost the same drive in March, minus the trip to Salzburg. If you are taking the "romantic road from Rothenburg to Fussen it is very well marked.

Thanks for you help- everyone!! This will be my second "driving" trip through Germany. Last summer, my master navigator husband did all the driving and all the navigating- it was wonderful and stress free. This time it is my mom and me. I believe she will do the driving and I will do the nagivating. I've done all the planning- she's providing the first class miles :D. It's all on me to make sure we get from point A to point B. A little mistake here and there is no biggie. I just need to be prepared, know what I mean?
