I don't know whqat caused the above repititions of the beginning of my answer!

Martha, What in the world have I done to cause all the above repetitions? Anyway, the answer it yes! we are staying in a chateau--Chateau Rochecotte in Langleais, just to the west of Tours. Does anyone know anything about this chateau? Also, does anyone have any suggestions of restaurants for both lunch and dinners? We are so looking forward to our trip (the group has grown to eight) and I'm sure I'll have other questions to ask before we leave in mid- October. Thanks for all your help, everyone!

At the first chateau you visit, head for the gift shop area and pick up a copy of the book listing all the chasteaus. The pictures are terrific and this may help you decide which ones you'd prefer doing next. Some are more fortress-like and feudal while some of the later ones are more grand entertaining palaces in style. Some are known for hunting and they still feed the dogs for show; some have spectacular nighttime shows with costumes and lights; some weren't sacked and still have their original furnishings; some are more famous for who lived or visited there (Jean D'Arc, etc). I wouldn't say any were a waste of time...just decide how you want to "begin eating the elephant....one bite at a time!" -Cher
