Which local restaurants in Arles for a surprise birthday dinner?
 

I need some suggestions from you Fodorites about restaurants in the Arles area for my dear friend's 40th surprise birthday dinner in June! We want cozy, intimate, hole in the wall, local, farm to table food, great environment and enjoy food for hours- no touristy spots or with American menus, please! :) we looked at Chassagatte but seemed too expensive...we were told to check out Jardin de Manon and Villeneuve La Telline. Anyone been there before? If so, what were your experiences and your thoughts? We welcome your recommendations as well!!

We ate at la mule Blanche and had the traditional black bull stew there. Very nice with reasonable prices

Problem is, finding it's quite an adventure, and the roads are pitch black at night when you're driving home. But it's one of the most wonderful dining experiences ever (even though the dog, Idée, who used to go around and collect napkins at the end of the meal, has probably gone to doggy heaven by now).

Might be one of my favorite dining experience ever, anywhere.
