Which hotel to stay in Provence?

I was wondering if anyone had any opinions about staying at Hotel Les Ateliers de l'Image in St. Remy or
la Ferme de la Huppe in Gordes. I reserved at the first hotel because I was told the weekend we were requesting is a holiday weekend so I thought I just better grab something. Now I have just heard back from the hotel in Gordes that they have one room available. So need to figure out which is better location and nicer hotel.

I personally like St. Rémy better than Gordes. I think Gordes is overrated and looks best from a distance. St. Rémy is total charm all around. That being said, Gordes is nearer to many interesting sites, such as the bories (although St. Rémy is no slouch, being right by Glanum and Van Gogh's asylum, which is still a working art-therapy mental hospital which you can visit). I would stay in St. Rémy but I'd make sure to have dinner reservations at La Ferme de la Huppe, which is one of the best restaurants in France.

I enjoy the Luberon region (Gordes) much more than the Alpillies (St Remy).

If you want to stay in the countryside - choose la Ferme. If you want a city/village - stay in St Remy.

Another vote for Gordes.

If you are into art, stick to St Remy. For scenery, Gordes and surrounds win hands down.

I've styed at the L'Atelier de L'Image. It's on the main drag and was once a movie house. There's one suite that has a room built into a tree. When you sit out back you wouldn't know you are in town, the Alpilles look down on you. There's a pool, vegetable garden, a Labyrinth. After dinner we played billiards, while others were watching "Some like it Hot" on a huge screen. You may pick your own video.

My vote for Hotel Gonoud - St. Remy.
