Which hotel, Pulitzer or Golden Tulip Barbizon Palace??
Hi all, I really can't decide between the 2 Shopping is a priority on this trip because we will be there just before Xmas. Any advice on the best shopping areas & how to get there from either of these hotels? (Originally wanted to stay at the American or Europe but both were booked)Location & very nice rooms are key. Thanks in advance.

We stayed at Golden Tulip Barbizon Palace exactly one year ago. It is right near the train station and in the middle of all the nightlife. Our room had a great view of the intersections of
3 canals (it was noisy at times but we loved the huge windows and the luxurious accomodations). I am not sure where people shop at Amserdam, we only did souvenir shopping but it is a great 5 star hotel.

Hi Tim:
I prefer the location of the Pulitzer. The Barbizon is right off the main drag. The trams stops not too far from the Hotel. I also like the atomsphere of the Pulitzer. It is 5-7 canal houses converted to a Hotel. There are so many small shops to browse through and find lovely things for gifts. I am heading to Amsterdam in the Spring and will be staying at the Pulitzer again. Have a wonderful time.

Tim: Amsterdam.. Stayed at Pulitzer, although it's been about 8 years ago. General central location. Hotel made up of many old houses, side to side, floor level often changes going down halls. Thought it was nice / our canal front room had dated decor (8 yrs ago) We normally do 3-4 star.

Tim:
I forgot to mention that I also like the Doelen (also part of the Golden Tulip chain) I would be staying there again if I had been able to get a reservation for the Spring (Not available then!!) though you may be able to get one at the holidays.Anyway, my other choice when I am in Amsterdam is Pulitzer. Have fun
