Which hotel in Paris?
I started late reserving a last minute trip to Paris for June 11. Of all my hotel choices, the only two with rooms available for me are the Quai Voltaire and the Hotel Bersolys St. Germain. Which would you choose? Prices are comparable. I'm leaning towards the Bersolys only because that's a three star and the Quai Voltaire is a 2 star, but I'm not sure I'm making the right choice. Is there anyone with first hand experience in these hotels?
Thanks so much, Teresa |
Therese, some 15 years ago I came upon the Hotel Du Quai Voltaire having eaten at the restaurant right next door. It's in a great location right on the Seine & I decided to have a look at the rooms. They were awful! Some of the rooms had views onto the river but the rooms were very shabby. While that was some time ago, there are several reviews on tripadvisor.com (have a look) that are current that say the same. One or two poeple had positive comments as well.

From what I know, not personally viewed, I would choose Bersolys. It is a higher level hotel, from my understanding, so the stars make sense, but I don't find the location of the Quai Voltaire that great. I wouldn't want to be on the quai there and I think Bersolys is a little closer to a metro stop, even if not much.

I agree in choosing Bersolys. From what I've read about Quai Voltaire quite a few guests were disappointed in the rooms. Also the streetside rooms are so noisy even with the double-paned windows that one needs to bring earplugs if sleep is important.
So definitely Bersolys St. Germain as it's a nice property (tiny rooms but that is typical) but it's in St. Germain. |
Thanks so much for all your responses. With your advice I've confirmed my room at the Bersolys and can't wait to go!
