Which hotel in Munich? Arriving train. Have booked the Sofitel, but am interested also in the Hotel Torbrau. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Which hotel near railroad station?

I know this is not on your list, but Le Meridien is right across from the Sofitel and is very nice, also.
Since I joined their "club", got an upgrade to a huge room (even by American standards) at no charge. I've not stayed at Sofitel but looked in the lobby. Looks very nice. I don't know the Hotel Torbrau so I cannot comment. |
Also have stayed at the Meridien. I liked it alot. Right across the street from the train staion.

If you're looking for something next to the station, then the Le Meridien would be the place.
The Torbrau and Sofitel are further away. Torbrau is in a nicer location near the Isartor and would be my choice between the two. |
Dutch - Isn't the Sofitel right next to the station or am I remembering it incorrectly?? It has been a couple years for me so...

The Sofitel is next to the Munich train station and across the street from the Meridien. The Meridien is a typical 4 star hotel. Have not been in the Sofitel rooms so cannot compare.

We arrived by train and just took a quick taxi to the Platzl. We flew out of Munich, so we took a taxi to the airport for our early AM flight.

Soogies - you're right. For some reason I thought the Sofitel was closer to the Opera House. I better go back to Munich soon.

Husband and I stayed in the Sofitel Bayernpost over Christmas (it is directly adjacent to the Hauptbahnhof). It is a very modern hotel (in terms of design and aesthetic) with good service. The bathrooms are not for everyone (kind of "open") but we enjoyed our stay. If your rate includes breakfast, I can highly recommend it, since breakfast was lovely. Try the various fruit juices and some Weisswurst! We had originally booked the Meridien, but found a better rate (that included breakfast) for the Sofitel.
