Which hotel in Lyon?

We have only 2 nights in Lyon so want to stay near the city center. We would most want comfort , location, and charm. These are the 4 that we've come across that are in our price range:

Hotel Vaubecour
Hotel des Celestins
Hotel Mercure Lyon Beaux Arts
La Residence

Hotel Mercure Lyon Beaux Arts is a little more expensive and seems more modern than I would typically choose but seems very popular. Hotel Vaubecour maybe a little further from sites? I haven't honed in yet on what we will be able to see in only 2 nights. Lots of good recommendations on all in travel websites. Any thoughts or recommendations that would make my choice easier?

Would always welcome restaurant recommendations in addition to those I have gotten on a different thread regarding my France trip.

I love La Résidence for many reasons but one is the size of the rooms - huge by most old French hotel standards.

DH and I stayed in La Residence. Our first room was too small--no place to stash our clothes! We complained (nicely) and were given a much bigger room the next day.

Although taxi and service vehicles can drive to front door, it is mostly a pedestrian area.

The old town was across the bridge so you might want to consider that. TI was on our side and very good place.

Another fan of the Résidence here. I especially loved the location for ease of getting around, and the very nice staff at the hotel.

Ended up booking the Hotel Mecure Lyon Beaux Arts. My daughter loved it and the France visit is to celebrate her getting into Medical school for the fall school year. By booking this far ahead, the price was very reasonable.
