Which hotel for Rome?
 

First time trip to Rome in planning stages for Spring Break. Will be 2 adults with 11 year old kid. I'm looking for a safe, luxurious hotel with internet and room service in a centrally located area with at least 300 square feet size room. I had my eye on Waldorf Astoria Cavalieri for the longest time but it's a bit far. Next hotel I'm intersted in is Westin Excelsior Roma. It seems to have all amenities plus is located in a good spot for attractions and restaurants/shopping. Can anyone please comment and/or give suggestion of another one? I prefer larger hotels. thank you very much.

Another option is Rome Marriott Grand Hotel Flora.

I usually check the reviews of booking.com or hotels.com and sometimes TripAdvisor.

We have stayed at the Hotel Veneto Palace not far from the Westin Excelsior. The hotel is well placed for ventures to the Spanish Steps, Borghese Gallery (15-20 minute walk), the Capuchin Crypt, Piazza Bernini and the Quatra Fontana. I can't remember the size of the room but we did not have any complaints.

We have also stayed at 3 different hotels behind the Castel Sant Angelo. The Hotel Cicerone, NH Giustiniano and the Hotel Metropolis. These hotels are a much better location for ventures to the Vatican, Castel Sant Angelo, the Pantheon, Piazza de Popolo, Piazza Navona. The rooms at the Metropolis and the Cicerone were small but I can't comment of the exact dimensions. The Giustiniano we had a one bedroom suite with a balcony and thoroughly enjoyed it. Breakfast was included in all 3. The one draw back of the Giutiniano and the Cicerone is they cater to bus tour groups which can be problem in the morning when everyone is trying to have breakfast and get out early for their tours.

We are planning on going back to Rome next Fall. We will return to the Metropolis.

Have you considered booking an apartment? Depending on your length of stay, you may get more space for your money that way. When we visited Rome, we booked a one-bedroom with an office space, a kitchen, and a den via Homeaway.com and were very pleased.

Isn't the Westin on the Via Veneto? Ew, absolutely NOT! It isn't 1961.

Albergo del Senato is another good hotel in a fabulous location. Opposite the Pantheon and the best fountain in Roma.

Albergo del Senato is indeed lovely and in a perfect location, but not a larger hotel.

I too am not keen on the Via Veneto.
