Which Greek Island?
My husband and I would like to go spend a few nights (5 nights/6 days) on a Greek Isle. We are coming from NYC. We would want an island with amazing food and very luxurious accommodations. Are there any hotels with private beaches? Or do the hotels just have views of the water? Any help would be appreciated!

This would be for the summer (probably July).

Look at Katikies in the town of Oia, Santorini. Beautiful, small town with amazing views of the caldera, great food at many small restaurants that are a short walk away. There's a tiny beach at Amoudi Bay, which is a short walk from Katikies ( although zillions of stairs to get down to it!), but you could also visit beaches on the other side of the island, or hire a private boat to take you for a swim in the sulphur springs.
Forgot to mention that Amoudi Bay has some of the most amazing seafood restaurants we've ever eaten at in a really gorgeous setting. Have fun! |
Two last things- Look for posts written by BROTHERLEELOVE2004 for other hotel and restaurant suggestions in Santorini. And, if you are really serious about this, get on it NOW. It may already be too late to book many of the hotels, which often get reserved up to a year ahead for the summer months.

Hotels in Greece don't have private beaches. There are plenty of beach front hotels but, as I think they should be, the beaches are public. Santorini has already been mentioned. Crete too has some very luxurious hotels, especially in Elounda in the East.

Check out the Elounda Mare resort on Crete. Stayed there some years ago and it is very luxurious (member of Relais & Chateaux group). They have their own beach cove area along with a beautiful pool. They also have individual bungalows with private pools. the grounds are beautiful and if you rent a a car you can go out on your own and explore the area.
