Which European Country Has the Best Chocolate?

So, after giving my friends the Italian chocolate I brought back with me, and getting stuck with the pack I am not so fond of, I am wondering, which country has the best chocolate?

How can anyone say which countries chocolate is the best, its all a question of taste?

I didn't know Italy produced such great artesan chocolate until I moved here to Piedmont, close to Turin, one of the oldest European choco-centres (http://www.chocolatemonthclub.com/pa...rs/vol5no4.htm), but before that I had a special fondness for Belgium chocolate bars and Russian chocolate candies (any kiosk in Moscow)

For me the best I have ever had was in Switzerland, (candy shop in Bern), with Germany a very close second. - then again I love most European chocolate! :)

When you make the final determination just tell me where I can get it here in the US without having to go all the way to Europe..I'm in a hurry this morning LOL

La Maison Du Chocolat (France) and Pierre Marcolini (Belgium) both have stores here in NYC. If you are not from here, then look up their website for ordering.

Ah, the "which child is your favorite" question.

Personally, I'll have to withhold judgment until I've tasted them all ;-) Meanwhile, Belgium seems to know what it's doing with cacao.
