Which edinburgh apartment location is better?
Can anyone help me in deciding on the location of an apartment rental in Edinburgh. deciding beteeen 2 -- one is on High street ad Cranston and the other is on or Queen St. and Frederick. Would like the one that is closer for to the action in terms of shops, dining, people Thanks so much.

what do you mean by High Street and Cranston.
The High Street could be the one that is Part of the Royal Mile but I don't know Cranston, could it be one of the Closes off the Royal Mile , can you give a link for the location? Queen Street and Fredrick Street is a good location and closer to the main shopping area and a wider selection of resturant of all standards. The High Street(Royal Mile) is closer to or actually part of the historic center of the city, still lots of shops and resturants in the area , it is only a 15 minute or so walk between the two areas. |
I have found it,it is where the High street and the Cannongate part of the Royalmile meet, good location in the heart of the historic city.I would not worry about either location both are good, theough Queen street is vloser to a much wider range of shops.

Thank you so much

A little note - in the UK we do not shorten street names so always include 'road' 'street' whatever

Cranston Street is extremely convenient for the Old Town, Frederick Street for the New Town and shopping.
We stayed across Canongate from you in October, and it could not have been a better location. |
Thank you so much everyone!

I usually stay off from the Royal Mile in Canongate not far from your first choice. I like it and not too far from Princes St. I've also stayed over by Waterloo. Each area is different and has its own thing but I don't think you will go wrong with either choice.

The one off the High St is in the medieval Old town - great location.
The one in Queen St is in the New town (not 'new' at all) and is also a great location. If you have a short stay in Edinburgh, most would choose the Old town since probably 75% of the sites/sights you'll want to visit are w/i walking distance. |
