Which district/area to stay in
Hi,
My husband and I are visiting Paris in June for our first time. What neighborhoo/district do you recommend? |
The areas are called arrondissements and the best for tourists are 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7.
You need to get moving to get a hotel for June. Do a search here for Paris Hotels Left Bank and Paris Hotels Right Bank for lots of recommendations. Or pick up a guide book. |
Thanks, we have been looking at some hotels and found that thread for the left bank. Just wanted to make sure we had the right ideas for the best location.
We were thinking of booking at hotel sorbonne...anyone know of it? |
Try vacationinparis.com - apartment 145,28 and 122. These people do not need an exorbitant security deposit and have positive feedback. We are looking at staying at one of their apts in November.

I suggest you purchase a standard guide book like Fodor's or Frommers and become familiar with the what you want to see, the basic customs, the food, and the arrondissements.
This will go a long way in planning and enjoying a successful trip. |
As for an apartment, it depends on how many days the poster intends on staying in Paris. As for VIP#122, I stayed there and did a detailed report on it. If you need info on it, click on my screen name and the thread should pop up. To get an apartment like #122, at this late date, is highly unlikely. I booked it around 9 months in advance. So, if the OP decides on an apartment over a hotel, then a lot of flexibility will be needed. Happy Travels!

Hi Luth,
Your hotel sorbonne seems to be in a reasonable area, has a decent price and looks nice on the net. Enjoy your visit. ((I)) |
Thanks. I'm still trying to take it all in. I've been reading guide books and websites. The trip we are planning is Paris and then Italy so it has been alot of research and information to sort. We're visiting in June so I was trying to get the hotel booked quickly, which is why I posted the question instead of just relying on the guidebooks.
Thanks for the input. |
