Which day tour from Avignon?
Which of these tours is the better option, I will be in Provence in February:-

Hard to tell -they both cover the major sights -the latter sees fewer places but covers more ground it seems.
Flip the coin. |
Viator is a small group trip ie van and longer, whereas Provence Reservation doesn't give details of the size of group.

One thing to bear in mind is the time of sunset. If the Provence Reservation one really runs until 7 pm the last hour could be in darkness, depending on when in February you are going.

Pretty neat -since I posted above I now get banner ads on Fodor's touting Viator's One Day in Provence tours!
Ah technology! |
They both are priced about the same, a little over $10 an hour. I agree that in February, the 10 hr one may be too much of a good thing as it will be dark much earlier. But it depends on your interests--it seems the additional thing to that 10 hr trip are a lavender museum in Coustellet (I've never been to that myself) and Les Antiques in St Remy.
That wouldn't be that attractive to me personally, but could be to you. The issue with adding St Remy is it sounds like they are just stopping on the road at Les Antiques, not visiting Van Gogh's asylum which I think of more interest. So that extra stop off wouldn't wow me. But I'm not as batty about Roman ruins as others could be, and heaven knows, there are enough of them around all over Provence which I've seen, that trip doesn't even seem to include visiting Glanum, it's just a pit stop at one monument. http://www.saintremy-de-provence.com...-Antiques.html So I'd probably pick the 6.5 hr one--10 hrs is a long time, even though I know part of that will be driving back. Otherwise, they sound fairly similar in what they see. |
Be aware that viator is just a re-seller of tours. You don't know who they are using and whether the local company is any good. You do know that the local company isn't getting all the money you pay.
I'd always opt for a local company rather than viator. |
So long as the tour you pick visits the Pont du Gard, I'd be fine with either of them.
