Which Day?
I'll be in Lisbon with my wife for four complete days. The plans is to spend three of them in Lisbon and one on a day trip. Basically during the second weeks of September. Sat, Sun, Mon & Tue.
For various reasons we scrapped Sintra and have decided to go to Cascais. I'm trying to decide which day would be best to go on the day trip. We won't want to go on Mon as it's our first day. Can I assume that since Cascais is a tourist town nothing is ever closed? The weekend will have more people there? |
Hi
If you have to choose, you should go to Sintra, has much more to see, and when returning to Lisbon you can go by the coast and pass by Cascais. |
Cascais is not a tourist town, it's a ... town. It's working all the time.
Until the end of September the bathing season is open, so there are full support and surveillance in their qualified beaches around. |
So, Peter_S, if the OP accepts the recommendation to do Sentra (as I will some day in the future) . . . do you have an observation about if there is a day of the week that is particularly good and/or particularly not good?

I don't understand how Monday is your first day if you're going to be here Saturday through Tuesday. I would think Monday might be a good day for a day trip outside of Lisboa. Quite a few of the sites of interest (Museu Nacional do Azulejo, Torre de Belém, etc) are closed on Mondays. Other places are closed on other days, and some are open 7 days/week. I'd suggest checking the sites you are planning to visit, in Lisboa and Cascais and/or Sintra and deciding based on that.

luz,
We get there Friday PM. Our first full day is Saturday so we'll want to tour around Lisbon. Tuesday is our last day so we'll propbably want to mop up anything we want to do but haven't. So that leaves Sunday and Monday for the trip to Cascais. |
