Which Code for Dijon TGV with SCNF?
I am booking tickets online... and it is aking me to select one Dijon station and none of them say TGV? I am trying to go from Dijon to Caen. thanks!

OK - so now it is saying there is no direct route... is there another train to Normandy that I should take from Dijon?
|
TGVs can run on the same tracks as slower trains. In most towns, TGVs use the same station as other trains. Dijon does not have a separate station for TGVs.
I'm pretty sure there are no direct trains from Dijon to Caen, and no TGVs to Caen. You'll need to get a train from Dijon to Paris, cross the city by metro, then take another train to Caen. |

OK - so I have to take a train from Dijon (any station) to Paris Gare De Lyon and then transfer to Paris
Would it make more sense to train into Bayeux and rent a car there? Or.. should we rent the car from Pare de Lyon station - how far is the drive to the D day beaches? I am leaving tonight, and really appreciate the last minite help. |
Bayeux is on the same railway line as Caen - they are both served by trains going from Paris to Cherbourg. Paris-Bayeux takes about 20 minutes longer than Paris-Caen. Look at a map to get an idea of where these towns are in relation to one another and to the D-Day beaches.

TGV leaves from Dijon-Ville and gets into Paris-Gare de Lyon.
Express (but not superfast TGV) trains for Caen (and Bayeux etc. to Cherbourg) leave from Paris-St. Lazare. It's a 7-minute ride on the super-swank Metro line 14 between the Lyon to St. Lazare stations. |
