Which castle in Germany was copied at Disney World?
 

Sleeping Beauty's Castle (I think???)
Is is Neuschwanstein?

I have been repeatedly told that it was not, in fact, Neuschwanstein.

It could be Segovia, Spain?

2nd thought - Usse in Loire Valley i believe is dubbed Sleeping Beauty Castle. Be interested in knowing the real answer.

Th three Disney Sleeping Beauty castles are in Anaheim, &quot;Paris&quot; (Marne la Vallee) and Hong Kong.

And the chateau at Usse is (as Wikipedia reminds us) the castle most associated with the original <i><b>story</b></i> &quot;La belle au bois dormant&quot; (likewise <i>Le chat botte</i> - - aka Puss in Boots).

Coincidentally, Le Ch&acirc;teau de Usse was our least favorite chateau when we visited the Loire Valley. Take a picture from the outside and move on. The inside is very hokey. The only redeeming feature, in my opinion, was a chapel on the property.

This question has bugged me for a year because I read a mystery book where one of the extravagent characters built a home to copy the Sleeping Beauty Castle. I misplaced the book and I can't locate the title or author, and it was the beginning of a series I wanted to follow up on. Grrr:)

Now that we have been corrected, if we could just get that pesky &quot;search option&quot; fixed....perhaps Wikipedia can help us with that, too

Lived in Anaheim (thankfully far, far away from Disney) for 18 years and my daughter's best friend is now Sleeping Beauty. The story there is that Neuschwanstein IS the castle that was copied. But I'm willing to be corrected - I'm certainly no expert on Disney!!

Disneyland is in CA, Disney World is in Orlando... no?

And the entrance is Sleeping Beauty's Castle, they say so when you walk in. I've been there about a dozen times through my childhood and more since...what am I missing?

I think Rex meant that the castle is at Disneyland, not Disneyworld.

Yes, what I meant is/was that there is no Sleeping Beauty's castle at The <i>Magic Kingdom</i> of <i><b>Walt Disney <u>World</u></b></i> (in Orlando).

It might be that the Disney people borrowed from all of the above. There are Cinderella Castles in Orlando and Tokyo and Sleeping Beauty Castles in Los Angeles and Paris and they all look different.

This is interesting. I never knew that some parks have Sleeping Beauty Castle, and some have Cinderella Castle. You can tell that I don't read fairy tales.... :D

Anyways, I just looked up the website for the upcoming Disneyland Hong Kong (open September). Its castle is the Sleeping Beauty type.

But yes, I think it is widely recognized that features of many different castles went into the creation of both the Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella castles.

Whatever...the castle in Orlando to me looks a lot more like Neuschwanstein than Usse - though site Intrepid1 cited says Disney folks point to Usse as the inspiration.

The Alcazar in Segovia has always been said by many to have been the model. Maybe there were a few models, who knows?
