which cabin? GCT Seine/Normandy in May

We are taking our 1st river cruise on our first trip to Europe in May 08. How do we choose a cabin? We will be on M/S Bizet and have a choice of no balcony or with balcony. I'm thinking the balcony would be nice for photographs? in May? Does the side of the ship matter? Any help with cabin choice or comments about this Paris to Honfleur- Deuville trip would be great. We plan to spend extra time in Paris and at the Normandy beaches.

When you look at the cabin charts just be sure not to pick one under the lounge, very noisy if you like to retire early in the evening.

We're going (by car) to the area in May also so will be interested in your report.

It will be interesting to see what towns on the Seine they choose to let you off the boat for sightseeing.

Don't have any experience on such river cruises - would like to though!

Just thought I would mention that you may get some really good advice from cruisecritic.com. They have a river cruise forum.

Have a great trip, Julie

Go for a cabin on the dining-room level, which will get you a balcony. It's lovely to have the sliding door open and sit outside and watch the scenery go by.

Thank you all for your help. Now we're waiting on decisions by BIL and SIL who might join us.
