Which Bloomsbury hotel; Arosfa or Morgan?
 

I am considering these two hotels for their convenient Bloomsbury location and reasonable prices (Arosfa 82£/night, Morgan 105£/night).

Both include full breakfast and free WIFI.

The Arosfa has smaller bathrooms and the Morgan has air-conditioned rooms (we are going in mid-September). Any suggestions?

The Morgan is nicer, the Arosfa is cheaper. Both are decent. The decision is yours.

We stayed at a lovely little family run hotel in Bloomsbury...the Ridgemount in Gower street and will return in November...it was about 55 pounds a room with a magnificent breakfast...basic but clean with free internet and coffee in the lounge at any time.

janisj, the one significant difference between the hotels is that the Morgan has air-conditioning. We will be there September 18-24. We live in Miami but that does not make us "heat tolerant", in fact we live in air-conditioning. Will we need it in September?

RosieinOz, I looked into the Ridgemont and it is highly regarded in Tripadvisor. The Arosfa offers WIFI in the rooms and better cable TV for only 7p more per night. If we want to save money I think we will go with the Arosfa.

I have stayed at the Morgan many times. I love the little hotel and the family that runs it. However, I find it difficult to think that it costs over $200 a night now (it has been a while since I have stayed there). To be completely honest, I do not think it is worth that kind of money. I think you can do better.

Reisender: $200 is only a bit over £100. That is not much unless one opts to use Priceline. Hotel rates in London are significantly higher than even a year or two ago. It doesn't surprise me at all that the Morgan is up to £105.

InMiami: the a/c is definitely a consideration if that is important to you. I personally don't bother even asking for a/c in London since except for the modern chain type properties, a/c is not the powerful, forced air you are probably used to.

One thing - if you do bid on a 4 star on Priceline, you will get a hotel w/ a/c for less than either the Arosfa or Morgan.

But if you are deciding between these two - the Morgan is nicer. £23 a night nicer (?) - not entirely sure.

Meant to add - one reason the Morgan's rates are up is because it is a VERY popular property and is often booked solid. It is well run and the location is terrific.

janisj, I saw your recommendation for Priceline earlier in the year. I looked on all the sites that help one with the bidding. I actually placed a low-ball bid but I don't have the confidence yet to really use the system. Also, I would prefer an included breakfast and Priceline does not seem to offer that inclusion. Would you recommend trying again or just settling for my simple Morgan with included breakfast?

Reisender, I am in agreement with your "sticker shock". I have stayed at the K&K Opera in Budapest and the Maxmilian in Prague for less! My friends think I am daft to be going to London under these circumstances. I guess I am willing to go a bit rustic in order to return to England.

IMO you can buy a mighty fine breakfast for the $75 - $100 a night you'd save using priceline . . . . . .
