Which arr

Can anyone tell me which arrondissement this address is in. The website for the apratment says 6th, but it looks a bit further out than that. I'm interested in how long of a walk it is to the Luxembourg Gardens.

"Rue St Jean Baptiste de le Salle between rud de Sevres and rue du Cherche Midi"

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

It could be in the 7th but not knowing if the border of the 6th runs along rue de Sevres - can't be sure.
Looking at my Michelin Map it looks like a good long walk to me to Jardin Du Luxembourg.
Robespierre will know if there is a bus running somewhere near - or you could go onto the RATP website.

My map puts it in the 6th. Rue de Sèvres is the boundary between the 6th and the 7th, so it is very close to the western edge of the 6th.

I think one of those mapping programs will tell you how long a walk it is, but I'd guess about 15 minutes.

Yes it's in the 6th. Also, it is 2 blocks from metro station "Vaneau".

I agree the walk to Luxembourg Gardens is probably 15 minutes. Also a 15 minute walk to Musee d'Orsay and a 10 minute walk to St. Sulpice. It's actually a pleasant and convenient area. I went to a church concert in that neighborhood once. Surprisingly, I saw no tourists in the neighborhood - unlike nearby Montparnasse or St. Germain des Pres.

Hi Karen,

Enter your address info at www.mappy.com and click "pedestrian".

I stayed in an apartment not too far from there, but in the 7th, on Rue Vaneau at the Corner of Rue Babylone. We enjoyed the neighborhood, and used the heck out of the Metro rather than walking to most sites, although we did walk to Les Invalides. We also used the Duroc metro station a number of times because the station on that line that was closer to our apartment (St. Francis Xavier) was closed for repairs.

I'd walk the fifty yards down to Boulevard Montparnasse and get on the N° 82 bus at the Maine-Vaugirard stop. The bus winds around the south side of the Jardin to the Luxembourg RER stop on the east side.

Here's a map of the neighborhood showing where the bus stop is:

The mappy pedestrian site is a good one. Also Check http://www.pagesjaunes.fr/rc.cgi?lang=en

when you enter an address, it will show you pictures of the street. You can also use their map function to get a pictorial view of the walk , whichver direction you want to go.

wow what great information. Thanks everyone. We have never rented and apartment before and I am having a hard time deciding. This apartement is much more affordable than those that are "steps" away from the gardens, but a 15 minute walk or a bus ride seems like a small price to pay to save a significant amount of money. Thanks again for the help!

Lodging costs more where land values are higher. We usually stay outside the single-digit arrondissements altogether and pay about half of what equivalent accommodations cost closer in.

There are some on this board who would take issue with your conclusion that "a 15 minute walk or a bus ride seems like a small price to pay to save a significant amount of money" - but I'm not one of them.
