Which area to stay in London??

I am looking for an apartment/flat for 4 nights starting May 20 for family of five. Please advise on best/safest areas to look. Anyone have any place they have stayed and can reccomend?

We have rented apts satisfactorily twice from www.barclayweb.com. They have all prices. Some charge a premium for less than one week. We are used to the Kensington and Knightsbridge areas but none of the areas they have apts in are bad. We've been to London 5 times, stayed at hotels and timeshares in addition to apts, in various areas. Earls Court area was the least attractive we have ever stayed in but even it was ok and close to tube station. Some people like Bloomsbury for more reasonably priced apts.

Yes, I am aware of that. I checked every one of the places mentioned. Most have not have vacancies during my dates. I have a couple of options I am working on right now. I do appreciate all the helpful information that has been given.

Here's a posting with lots of links for finding accommodation in London, including 5 sites for finding apartments http://www.wickedgoodtraveltips.com/?p=250
Hope it helps. I usually like staying in Kensington/Knightsbridge - great neighborhoods.

joebear: My point was -- it is normally better to top that thread and ask for more help. By starting a brand new thread you'll likely get several of the same suggestions and folks will not know you've "been there, done that"
