Which area in Rome should I get a hotel?
What areas have people liked staying in and does anyone have a favorite hotel/B&B/inn? (We're aiming for the $100-150 range for a double.) I stayed near the Spanish Steps last time and liked the location, but would like to try something else this time. Maybe Plaza Navona?

Do a search on this forum under Hotel Genio, in the Piazza Navona area. A very nice hotel for the price range you're looking for. My husband and I stayed there last year. Great location too.

We stayed at the Cesari which was about midway between the Trevi Fountain and Pantheon. We thought it was a perfect location.

Hi Jane. We stayed near the Spanish Steps a year ago and loved the area. We also stayed in the Prati district (across the Tiber from the Piazza del Popolo) and liked that too; it had a *bit* of a Parisian feel to it.

The Centro Storico area (Piazza Navona/Piazza della Rotonda/Campo di Fiori) is very appealing and I'd definitely stay there. And I also would consider staying in Trastevere.

Yes, I stayed in Trastevere last year - third neighbourhood I stayed in in Rome over the past 3 years, and I would never stay anywhere else! Hotel San Francesco is a lovely place, centrally located, without being on a noisy main road, and withib your price range!

Enjoy! Helen Malan

I've lived in Trastevere and while I might recommend it for a fun short stay, it's so busy with nightlife that it can be hard to get any sleep. This is true of the Campo di Fiori, Piazza Navona area as well now to a certain degree. You might like the Due Torri which is between Spanish Steps and Navona [Vicolo del Leonetto 23-25 [Navona]
http://www.hotelduetorriroma.com/]
Another vote for Due Torri. A search on previous posts re: Rome Hotel should bring up several positive comments about this place.
