I'm SO happy that you selected the neighborhood and apartment that I suggested. Although I haven't stayed it that apartment yet...not until spring 2008...I know the neighborhood and street like the back of my hand. You will be VERY happy in the neighborhood. If you have ANY questions about the neighborhood/district, feel free to page me over in the Asia forum...where I'm a regular. I don't always check the European forum. I'll be leaving in three weeks to go back to Bangkok to my rented serviced apartment there. I vacation there twice a year. But I always check the Asia forum and answer questions and report back while I'm there.

On the street of apartment #122, rue des St.Andres des Arts, there's a really nice crepe restaurant that I've been going to for decades. I've never actually eaten inside of the restaurant as there's a to-go window that faces the street. You literally stand in the street while ordering and waiting for a crepe and the crepe maker is inside of the restaurant window making the crepe right in front of you. The grand marnier crepes are delicious. I just grab a crepe and then keep walking.
If you walk east out...rue St.Andres des Arts...going in the direction of the 5th...then you'll come to Blvd. St. Michel. Cross the boulevard and you'll see the tiny little streets like rue Huchette with all of the Greek restaurants and falafel places, too. There's also a beautiful blue-colored Tunisian bakery that's been there for as long as I can remember. If you keep walking east through those streets there's a little church...can't remember the name...off off the top of my head, St. Julien des Pavre(?sp?), where they usually have concerts. You can buy a ticket at the door. Two years ago, I went to a gospel concert there. I've been there several times. It's a beautiful church inside. Then Notre Dame is very nearby...just a very short walk north.

If you walk to the west out rue St.Andres des Arts, then you're deep into the 6th. Once you cross the fork where rue Mazarine is, the street changes names to rue Buci and you'll be in the heart of the 6th. The first street you'll come to is a very tiny street called, rue Gregoire des Tours. Both sides of this street are restaurants. Friends of mine used to own a Japanese restaurant there up until 3 years ago when after 20-plus years they decided to reitre back to Japan. There are all types of restaurants on that street. One street past that street is rue de Seine...if you go to the right onto rue de Seine, there's a laundrommat on the left side of the street. If you go to the left, there are food vendors the whole block and also a supermarket that you can enter either from rue Buci or rue de Seine. Go in and buy your bottled water there. Hope this has helped a bit. Have fun and let us know how it went. Happy travels!
