We were very happy with Lufthansa in the air, but will not fly with them again because of the long, long check-in lines at Logan. Going to Russia, we arrived at the airport three and a half hours ahead of time. By the time we endured the very slow, very long, check in line and went through security (a breeze), we barely had time to use the rest rooms and grab a coffee before catching our flight. And, it wasn't just that one day...when checking in with other airlines, we've noticed the lines at Lufthansa have been ridiculous every time we've flown out of Logan. Could just be Logan Airport (Boston) staff.
Coming home from St. Petersburg, we also encountered long slow check-in lines, though with a partner airline. After that, passport control was slow as well. Had they not held the plane for 15 minutes, we'd have missed our flight. Thankfully, we had a two hour connection in Frankfurt! We had to go through security again - "American" security, which the most thorough I've ever seen (but this was not a Lufthansa thing).
In the air, however, everything was quite nice. The attendants were wonderful, the food was fine, and the airbuses are very comfortable in coach.
