Whew! Got my flight from Copenhagen to Paris, now need a quick sleep over for one night
I was sweating it because Air France was charging upwards of $900 for a one way from Copenhagen to Paris for May of 2009. I found Sterling Airlines, which was $74 for the same leg, but they just went bankrupt. Sure glad I didn't rush to buy that! I was finally able to buy SAS for $114 total. That puts us into Paris at 8pm. We will be renting a car and driving to Bordeaux the next morning, so I need some help figuring out some logistics. Where would you stay just for a one night's sleep?

Jeff, you're right. We're flying into de Gaulle. Cathinjoe, I'm thinking we should stay put in Paris and start on our way the next morning. We will be returning to Paris a week later for three nights, when we will return the rental car and fly home.

When I'm off to visit friends in both Paris and Copenhagen(KBH) and fly the L.A.-KBH-Paris-KBH-L.A. route, when I get to Paris I stay at the Suite Hotel at Charles de Gaulle. There are two of them. They are about 3 minutes apart from each other.
I stay at the one across from the restaurant, at the second stop when taking the shuttle from Charles de Gaulle.
There are three budget hotels there on the same property...I think Ibis is one of the other ones, to the left of the Suite Hotel...and then there's one to the right of the Suite Hotel, but I can't remember the name of the hotel. I ate a nice buffet breakfast at the one, a few steps, to the left of the Suite Hotel as Suite Hotel has no eating facility. Happy Travels!

I'm sure you know this, but you could just take the TGV directly from CDG to Bordeaux in the morning.
There are lots of hotel choices at CDG, including the Sheraton, which is literally IN the airport.

The idea of hopping right on a train to Bordeaux is very appealing. However, when I checked the TGV site, it will not give me any options for Paris-Bordeaux. We would be going out on a Monday in mid-May and coming back the following Saturday. Actually we are going to end up in Arcachon, so perhaps we can take the train somewhere closer...? Sorry, but I'm not used to train schedules. Perhaps I should call the number on the TGV site tomorrow.

For flights from Paris to CPH, you really only have two options - Air France or SAS. Both fly from CDG.
You could connect, but I would do it only if absolutely desperate to save money. Your most direct connecting option would likely be via AMS on KLM.

1. The SNCF and TGV sites are crappy.
2. It's too early to search for train timetables and book for the tickets, even if those sites are not crappy. Nothing will show.
3. Checking www.bahn.de for schedule in upcoming days, I don't see a direct train from Roissy Aeroport Charles de Gaulle to Bordeaux. It only shows connections with RER to Paris, then TGV from Paris Montparnasse.

Rkkwan, thanks for checking and for the advice. I will wait until next year to start checking the train schedules. I'm not sure if that would be an easier option than renting a car, since we will want one for our week in Arcachon anyway. From what I can see it is a 6 hour drive to Arcachon from Paris.
