Where Would You Go?
I am starting to plan a 3 week vacation in Europe for DH and me in fall 2009. In 2007 we visited London, Prague, Budapest, Berlin and Paris using Easyjet and trains to get from one city to the next. We would like to do a similar trip but to different locations. I am looking for suggestions. What cities would you recommend? Any jewels (we loved Ceske Krumlov) that are "must stop". Thanks ahead of time for your help in our trip planning.

Rent a car and circle Spain and Portugal. Or just Spain - three weeks will go by like THAT and you'll find gems (à la Cesky Krumlov) galore!

Ever been to Italy?

With 3 weeks I would start in Zurich and end in Rome and include--all by train:
Luzern Lugano Lago Como Venice Florence Siena rural Tuscany Rome That is a good start. We will be going in Sep 2009 to Venice and Lago Como to celebrate our 50th. |
We did a tour with students in 2006 and we were in Rome, Florence, Venice, Munich. We loved Italy and would like to go back but try some other places. Any suggestions?

My vote goes to southern France and / or Spain. Spain alone has enough different area to interest you for three weeks. Have a great trip!

Malta, including Gozo, and Sicily. You can fly between Malta and Sicily or catch a ferry.
We had roughly 7 nights on Malta, 10 in Sicily (Siracusa, Taormina and Lipari) and 4 on Gozo. Fabulous trip, especially Malta. We used public transport everywhere except on Gozo, where we hired a jeep. There are buses on Gozo but they tend to be on 'island time'. Kay |
Have you been to Wales and Ireland? If you have only been to London, there is a lot more to see in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
One of my favorite 3 weeks trips was Windsor to see the castle, Stratford-on-Avon, Northern Wales - Betws-y-Coed, flying to the west coast of France at Dinard from East Midlands. Mont St Michel, Loire Valley, Vezelay and home from Paris. We like to drive to for us it was a great trip. |
Turkey...
Istanbul, Coast, and Cappadocia It is a huge country, interesting historical sites, great antiquity, lovely people, great cuisine, and beautiful... |
