Where would you go?
We will be in Paris for 7 days in May at the front end of our trip, then Munich for 3 days at the tail end of our trip. Where would you go in between? We have 6 days in between. We have considered Strasbourg, Colmar, and Salzburg, but we really are open to anywhere.
|
I would go for Colmar and Strasbourg and then cross into Germany to Freiburg and the Black Forest and then on to Munich.
|
Brugges or Amsterdam are other worthy options in my view. Given the train system in Europe, this should be a breeze to arrange.

Hi K,
Take the TGVest to Strasbourg. Rent a car. Visit Nancy, Colmar and the villages of Alsace, Take a drive through the Black Forest from Strasbourg to Baden Baden, then the B500 (Schwarzwalder Hochstrasse)South. Visit Gengenbach. Return to France at Colmar and drive up to Strasbourg. You can drop the car in Strasbourg and take the train to Munich via Stuttgart - from 39E Enjoy your visit. ((I)) |
Hi Ira,
Can we do Colmar and Strasbourg and towns in between without renting a car? How easy would it be to rent a car in Strasbourg? |
For exploring Alsace, you need a car. Strasbourg is a major city and seat of the European Parliament - so no problem to rent any type of car there.
|
Should I reserve the car ahead of time? Will I need anything besides a passport and credit card to rent? Any companies to recommend?
