Where would be the best place to stop midway Venice-Bellagio?

I am flying to Venice in Oct. and we are renting a car to drive around for a few days before we board for our cruise. Booked 2 nites in Bellagio at Lake Como but wanted to stay some place on our first night on the way because we will probably be tired from the flight ? Can we make it from VCE to castlerotta ? Then to Lake Como ? How long/ arduous of a drive? Best company to rent a car from??? Thanks!

How early in October? What time do you land? If you know you're going to be tired from the flight, will you be alert enough to immediately drive 3 hours to Castelrotto? Did you want to drive Castelrotto to Bellagio via Sondrio and the ferry from Varenna? That's another four hours.

Where do you board your cruise? If it's Venice, you'd have another 3-hour drive directly back to Venice (assuming you encounter no traffic delays).

That's 10 hours of driving over 4 days.

We arrive Oct. 4th. I have been to Verona. I was trying to find somewhere else to explore, and I never made it to the Dolomites or lakes. We board the ship on Monday 10/8 & have reservations in Venice the 7th, preceded by 2 nights in Bellagio. Just left our 1st day/night open. Any suggestions on where to stay in Vicenza or Padua? Is there any place I could make it to in the Dolomites worth seeing with our time constraints? Btw- I really appreciate the advice!

For trip planning like this i use viamichelin.com.

put in your destination and departure points, and then you can enter any number of alternative diversions.

it will tell you how far, how long, and points of interest and restaurants along the way.
