Where will I go??

Hi there,

Is there anywhere in Europe where the weather will be half decent in Novemeber. Want to be able to eat outdoors during the day basically but not looking to get a tan!!! Cannot decide where to go!!! Not really keen on Canary Islands or anything too beachy/resorty. But want to relax, so not interested in a city break though would consider taking a city in as part of the trip.. have roughly a fortnight. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Cailin

1. Pin a map of Europe on the wall.

2. Blindfold yourself.

3. Throw a dart at the wall.

4. If it lands on someplace too "beachy," go to 2.

Thanks for that Robespierre!!!
Perhaps that would be the best way to chose!! It's the weather aspect of it that concerns me.. is all of Europe cold in november??? Should I look further afield?? Any suggestions??

I remember having a meal on a beach front terrace in Barcelona on December 15th, but I don't think any place in Europe can guarantee you really warm weather.

Valencia kind of has a micro-climate which makes it quite warm all year round.

In general, the only warm places will be around the Mediterranean coast, because as soon as you go inland it will become a lot colder !

Malta is sunny till mid December when the weather changes abrubptly. The sea temperature is warm well into late autumn - around 21°C in late November.

It's going to be further south if you want warm weather. If not the Canary Isles, then southern Spain, southern Italy, maybe Madeira?

But then again, I went to Istanbul for the first time one November and it snowed.

There's a micro-climate in Perpignan region too. I have eaten Christmas on the patio and November is normally planned good.

When I lived is Cadiz, the November was almost always fine. December started to deteriorate and the rains started.

This is a monthly weather result from last year's November-in Perpignan. Take a look and then change this to whatever city you would try. You might find a nice place for your November break.

Not knowing where you live... but what about somewhere besides Europe? Places in Mexico came first to my mind when I read your post.

Southern Spain or Southern Portugal would be warmer than Southern Italy. Malta is also a good suggestion. My mother spent several Christmas holidays there and was pleased with the weather every time. Greece and Turkey are less reliable.

You can create your list of favorite cities and check current and historical weather patterns for cities at: www.wunderground.com

You definitely have to go as far south as possible. Malta is a good option. Have you considered northern Africa, i.e., Morocco (Marrakech) or Tunesia?

Other thoughts: Cyprus, or the Puglia region of Italy (east coast of the boot)
