Where will I find music like this in Paris?
 

I am a great fan of oriental music and have a nice selection that I bought in Singapore - Since doing my research into Moroccan/Lebanese cuisine in Paris for our trip in July and received a number of great replies, one of which was from Kerouac recommending restaurant Chez Berbet. They play the most amazing ' get up and dance' introduction to their ad for the restaurant and I would love to buy this recording and more similar ones. http://www.chezbebert.com/ - the dance beat really only starts after about 30seconds so stick with it!

That is catchy, isn't it? I'd go to the restaurant, they're probably playing it there, and they can tell you what it is. And it is likely available from Amazon.

It's called Sidi Mansour Ya Baba and from Tunisia (although folks argue about that!)

Just checked on youtube and plenty of versions of the song now available there including the version used by the restaurant. Here you go:

I also should have said this version is being sung by Saber El Robaey and not Cheb Khaled. The youtube page doesn't make that clear.

Bill, I can't find any version on i-Tunes by Saber El Robaey although, as you've said, there are plenty of others. I did find this though which looks like a promo video of Saber El Robaey singing it:

Tod's correct. Stick with it for a bit over 30 secs and your feet will be tapping.

Have you got a CD of it Bill? If you have, where did you buy it? Amazon don't have it in stock.

Jon, I didn’t buy the track. The youngest son of a Greek family I know regularly sends me CD’s of North African music which he loves, together with notes about performers/origins etc. They are listened to then put away. That one track, Sidi Mansour Ya Baba, was on one of his CD’s and I’ve always enjoyed listening to it. On clicking tod’s link I recognised it right away.

Could I post the disc to you?
