Where to store luggage near Ferry Terminal in Naples

We (family of 2A, 2 kids aged 6,8) are arriving by ferry into Naples port after a week on Procida and were hoping to store our luggage somewhere convenient while we took a look at Herculeum before picking up rental car. Naturally,we don't wish to cart luggage around while sightseeing.Anyone know anywhere safe at the port??
Our reasoning for wanting to do this trip to Herculeum by train was that we haven't ever driven in Italy on the "right" side of the road and were worried that heading to this "touristic" spot first might just be too overwhelming.
We are then heading up to Tuscany for a few days, so figured after we do pick up the car we could get out onto one of the Autostradas as a more gentle initiation to driving in Italy. - Right or wrong with this assumption??
I look forward to receiving you feedback, or suggestions please

Thanks for the warning - but any ideas re luggage storage for the day? Lockers at the port or train station - are they available or are they too risky?

There is luggage storage at the train station. I can't vouch for it 'cause I've never used it. It looks pretty organized, however.

Well if there is any city in the world I would not drive in, it's Naples (I regularly drive in New York and Boston, have driven in Palermo, etc so am not afraid of city driving, but having just WALKED in Naples, no way would I drive there). Where are you planning to pick up the car? You might want to consider taking the train to someplace north of Rome and then getting the car. Orvieto might work.
