Where to Store Luggage in Ghent

Hello, My family of 3 would like to visit Ghent on our way from Bruges to Brussels.

We will each have one 22" suitcase and a backpack. Is there anywhere in the train station in Ghent that we could store our luggage while we tour for a couple of hours?

Thank you for your help! Laurie

according to the SNCB website, Ghent offers:
Automatic lockers are available in this station:
- Small locker: 1.36 EUR/24u
- Medium locker: 2.73 EUR/24u
- Large locker: 3.22 EUR/24u

We did the very same thing, stopped in Ghent en route from Brugge to Brussels. As usbeauty indicates there are lockers in this station. You should have no problem.

The only problem is that there are few of the large lockers and they get snapped up right away. Also, make sure you have exact change. I find the amounts posted on the SNCB web site a little weird. Usually, the figures are rounded off--2.73 euros? 1.36? I've never encountered such odd charges for lockers at other train stations in Europe.
If you plan to stop off on your way from Bruges to Brussels, make sure you get a ticket that allows this (unless you're traveling with rail passes) as opposed to a regular point-to-point ticket.
Finally, Ghent is only about one half hour from Brussels. In some ways, it might be better to do the trip after you're checked into Brussels.

Thank you for your replies. I think we will try and do this.

BTilke, I thought we would buy our train tickets one at a time. Are the trains terribly crowded in late March?

Can we buy a ticket in Bruge for Ghent and when we are ready to leave, just buy our tickets on to Brussels to Ghent?

Will this method work or is there a better way to buy train tickets? There are 3 of us traveling. Thank you for your help! Laurie

I believe you can buy a ticket that allows you to get off at Ghent and then continue on to Brussels later. I don't do this, so I forget what the ticket is called or what the additional charge is. If you decide to buy separate tickets, then buy them in Brugge; no need to buy the tickets from Ghent in Ghent and be forced to wait in line again.

Thanks! BTILKE. Good idea about buying both tickets in Bruges,so we can avoid lines.
